Tax Receipts

About your 2019 contribution tax receipt

Since 2016, all Ontario political contribution tax receipts have been issued by the central party rather than the individual Riding Associations. Accordingly, you should have received your receipts for income tax filings from the Ontario Liberal Party. If you made a contribution, either in a lump sum or by the monthly ABC Plan, you should expect to see your 2019 tax receipt sometime after mid-February. It will normally come by e-mail. Watch to be sure your tax receipt isn’t accidentally deposited in your Junk Mail folder by an overzealous spam filter.

As happens every year, some people don’t get a political contribution income tax receipt. The overwhelmingly most common reason is an incorrect or missing e-mail address. Income tax receipts are now normally sent by e-mail. If you don’t have a receipt for a donation made to the Mississauga-Streetsville Provincial Liberal Association, here is where to start:

  1. Check your e-mail Inbox, and look for an e-mail from the Ontario Liberal Party dated near the end of February. Your Income Tax Receipt is attached as a PDF document. If you find it, you’re ready to file it with your 2019 income tax return;
  2. Call the Ontario Liberal Party at (416) 961-3800. Listen to the telephone prompts and enter the extension for tax receipts. The OLP staff have been prompt and efficient at finding donations, and forwarding tax receipts. Last year, the principal reason for missing tax receipts has been an out-of-date, incorrect or missing e-mail address;
  3. Contact the Riding Association at (905) 542-3725. Please complete steps 1 and 2 above first. We can ask the OLP staff about your donation, but they cannot send you a copy of your tax receipt on our say-so alone. So far, we have helped to resolve all the missing tax receipt issues brought to our attention.

Thank you all again for your generous donations throughout the 2019 calendar year.

New people

Be part of the Riding Association

Nearly 20 months have elapsed since voters across Ontario put the Conservatives into Queen’s Park. Many of those who cast a Tory ballot to spite the then-Leader of the Ontario Liberals now wish they could have a ‘do-over’ of their vote. Ontario has political ‘buyer’s remorse’ in a big way. However, a vote in politics usually lasts for at least four years, when a majority government is elected.

As Ontario Liberals in Mississauga-Streetsville, our renewal is under way. Our Mississauga-Streetsville Provincial Liberal Association has started to bring in the new faces and new ideas we will need between now and 2022. Yours might be one of those new faces and voices.

  • Check out our contact information. The Riding Association retains a permanent mailing address; permanent phone number; ongoing web site (this one) and Facebook page;
  • Join the Ontario Liberal Party, and our Riding Association online by clicking here. Your membership must be received by the Ontario Liberal Party by December 2, 2019 to be eligible to vote for delegates to the Leadership Convention.

Leadership convention in March 2020

The Ontario Liberal Party will choose a new Leader on the weekend of Friday March 7 and Saturday March 7, 2020 at a convention in Mississauga. Members of record as of December 2, 2019 were eligible to vote to select delegates from the Mississauga-Streetsville riding. Click here for more information. It is an exciting and interesting time to be a Liberal. Each riding association in Ontario will send delegates to the convention to choose the new leader.

Mississauga-Streetsville 2019 Annual Meeting

At the Mississauga-Streetsville Provincial Liberal Association 2019 Annual General Meeting, a new Riding Executive was elected. The new Riding Association President is Sabrina Ahmed. Click here for a list of the Riding Association Executive. You should be part of it if you live in the riding, and want to help Bob Delaney and the Mississauga-Streetsville Liberals kick out the Conservatives at the next election. Call Bob Delaney at (905) 542-3725.

Tory Damage

18 months of destruction

Some eighteen months ago, Ontarians sent the Conservatives to Queen’s Park. Here is a partial list of what they have destroyed in that year-and-a-half:

  • Fired hundreds of teachers;
  • Fired more than 300 staff at Erinoak Kids;
  • Cut more than $100 million in badly-needed school repairs;
  • Scrapped debt-free post-secondary tuition;
  • Cancelled three Ontario post-secondary campuses;
  • Ended the Green Ontario Fund;
  • Eliminated Ontario’s carbon-reducing, revenue-neutral Cap-and-Trade method for reducing greenhouse gases;
  • Cancelled renewable energy projects that replace fossil-fuel electricity or electricity imports;
  • Ended OHIP+ for youth under 25;
  • Cut $1 billion from health care and child care services;
  • Scrapped the Basic Income Pilot Project that was helping lift people out of poverty in important test markets;
  • Cancelled a minimum wage increase that assisted the neediest Ontarians;
  • Squandered $1 billion to put beer into corner stores.

There is more incompetence, waste, and nastiness toward Ontario’s most vulnerable to come. Help Ontario get sanity back into government. Click the link on this page at right to make a donation to the Mississauga-Streetsville Provincial Liberal Association.
