We're seeing what a difference responsive government makes
A better western Mississauga after 5 years
Five years ago, Ontario wanted change, and looked to the Liberals for hope
and for government driven by good sense, intelligence and sound planning
rather than ideology and confrontation. In 2003, I knocked on doors pledging
action on four specific initiatives:
- Assistance to people who earned their portfolio of qualifications and
experience in another country, and who need to convert these assets
to their Ontario equivalents;
Action: Among many specific initiatives, the 2006
Fair Access to Regulated Professions Act enshrined improved
accss to Ontario's 24 regulated professions into law. One measure that
it's working: for five straight years, Ontario has licensed (not trained)
more foreign-trained doctors than Ontario-trained ones. It's one small
step toward addressing shortages of physicians and professionals of
all types;
- A new GO Train Station at Lisgar to serve Misissauga's northwest
corner;
To be finished shortly...
