Fresh coat of blue paint on shopworn, failed ideology
Same old story, different Tory

You'd think that after being tossed out of government as decisively as they were in 2003, the Conservatives would learn. But they never do. In "Tory-think," if an idea doesn't work, it isn't because it's a dumb idea, it is because the ideology just wasn't pure enough. Another good reason to stick with the Liberals. Check out what John Tory says in his platform, against what it actually means.

What John Tory's platform says What the Tory platform really means
“I am not planning to make an extensive list of promises.” (September 28, 2005) …but I’ll release a platform with 244 promises.
“In these pages, you’ll find some of my party’s ideas…” (A message from John Tory) …but not any costing.
“John Tory’s plan calls for an $800 million increase in funding for public education over 2006/07.” (Pg 7) That’s $500 million for 53,000 private school students, and only $300 million for 2 million public school students.
“…we need to start today not by pointing fingers…” (Pg. 17) I’m going to pretend I had nothing to do with the Harris/Eves era.
“We can lower your taxes, invest more in health care and help stimulate economic growth and job creation…” (Pg. 23) Just like the Harris/Eves legacy of cuts – and a hidden $5.6 billion deficit.
“John Tory will tackle all aspects of the environmental challenge…air pollution and greenhouses gases.” (Pg. 44) John Tory will keep coal plants open indefinitely. (Pg. 49)
“A John Tory government would open the door to innovative partnerships (in health care).” (Pg. 4) For-profit corporations will decide who gets health care and how.
“Protect Ontario’s clean water supply.” (Pg. 46) …but the Tories voted against the Clean Water Act implementing the recommendations of the Walkerton inquiry.
