Liberals:
Doing the job
This fall, commuters in western Mississauga will get on the GO Train at the
first new GO Train station built in Mississauga in more than 25 years, at Lisgar!
It was a promise made by Bob Delaney in 2003, and kept completely by the
government you elected!
- HOV Lans on Highway 403
- In cars with two or more people, you can now skip some of the traffic
gridlock on Highway 403 with the new High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV)
lanes.
- More capacity on GO Trains
- The ten-car GO trains will become 12-car GO trains as GO Transit begins
to accept new, more powerful locomotives starting this fall. All platforms
on the Milton Line either have been extended, or will be extended to
enable the longer trains to stop for commuters. Lisgar was designed to
accommodate 12-car GO trains from the outset.
- Third Track on the Milton Line
- Infrastructure Ontario has allocated funds for the extensive work needed for
the third track on the Milton Line needed to be able to offer all-day
GO Train service. GO Transit has made it a priority project. CP Rail is
on board, and they need the extra capacity for their freight business too.
The June 2007 MoveOntario 2020 announcement includes this 'capacity
expansion' project on the Milton Line as part of its $17.5 billion, multi-year
series of projects. It will happen;
- Highway upgrades
- If you have to take the car, every 400-series highway in Peel
Region is in the midst of amulti-year upgrade program to add capacity and
remove bottlecks to traffic flow.
